AMSOIL Motorcycle Oils

Helpful Tips from Dave Mann

Most Harley-Davidson touring motorcycles have a separate sump for the engine, transmission, and primary chaincase (hence the 3-holes). AMSOIL recommends 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil for all three in most Harleys.

In order to do a 3-hole oil change, you'll have to purchase additional O-rings and more 20W-50 v-twin oil since the V-Twin oil change kits only include enough oil for just the engine.

If you still prefer to run different oils in the transmission and primary chaincase, you can find those lubes below.

AMSOIL Motorcycle Oil FAQs

Have a question about AMSOIL motorcycle oils, becoming an AMSOIL Dealer, or any other topic? Visit our contact page or refer to the questions below.

Is AMSOIL good for motorcycles?

AMSOIL is great for motorcycles. AMSOIL V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is purpose-formulated for Harleys and other V-Twins and resists viscosity breakdown 6X better than Harley's Screamin' Eagle oil that comes stock. AMSOIL Metric Motorcycle Oil provides outstanding wear protection, smooth shifts, and clean performance in metric bikes like Ducati, BMW, Triumph, and many more.

Can you mix synthetic and regular oil in a motorcycle?

You can mix synthetic and regular oil in a motorcycle, but it is not recommended. Mixing synthetic and conventional oil degrades the lubricating properties and chemical additives in synthetics.

Where can you buy AMSOIL motorcycle oil?

AMSOIL motorcycle oil can be purchased online through Authorized Dealers or AMSOIL's website, as well as from local retailers, like many NAPA stores and other auto parts, quick lubes, service centers and powersports dealers.

What is a metric motorcycle?

The term metric motorcycle refers to motorcycles built outside of the US, brands like Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. Most of these non-US brands measure their engines in cubic centimeters (CCs) rather than cubic inches.
