20W-50 oil is a commonly used oil weight for many different applications, including V-Twin engines (like Harleys - where it can be used in all 3 sumps), it's great for high-mileage diesel and gasoline engines, also recommended in classic car engines with flat-tappet camshafts, excels in hydrostatic transmissions, and is also used in high-performance competition diesel engines.
